Solid, supportive indie/Britpop drums — kick-snare locked to bass, natural-ish hats, moderate room, no machine glamour. Not LinnDrum pop (see Lana Cinematic Slow Pop), not DM machine (see Machine Rhythm). The job: straightforward groove that lets guitar, synth, and vocal lead.
The sound should feel:
- Solid and natural (acoustic-hybrid OK)
- Moderate room (not gated 80s, not dub-dark)
- Locked to bass and guitar rhythm
- Controlled highs (hats don't chatter)
- Unshowy — expensive through feel, not production fireworks
Follows the house method: intention → source → preset/plugin start → routing → settings → automation → taste checks.

- Abbey Road 80s layer: -15 dB or more under main kit for air only

- Snare: 2 and 4 strong; clap layer optional, quiet
- Kick: tuned to bass root; short-medium decay
Taste knobs: room send level, hat level.
